Back at the beginning of the year, I was notified by Acquisition International that I was the winner of an award! Being under embargo until recently, I can now proudly announce Unique Young Mum was crowned Parenting & Lifestyle Blog of the Year 2020 - UK, by Acquisition International!
It's been no secret that over the last couple of years I haven't been as active on Unique Young Mum. Truth be told, I have had a lot going on personally. Just a few months before pulling Spud out of school, my relationship see a very troubling time, of which me and Gareth thankfully overcome, but with a lot of consequences including my health.
Then there was the home educating factor, something I had considered so briefly on so many occasions before, but something I never really was prepared for. At least not in the way it suddenly happened anyway. I was trying to find ways to work, run a home and home educate Spud, the home and education took priority over Unique Young Mum, I just couldn't find the balance.
When I finally did find a good routine that worked for us, my head just wasn't mentally in the right place. I love that it's acceptable to talk about mental health, but you have to be prepared and ready to talk about issues, and the issues that happened within my relationship is something I don't think I'll ever be comfortable writing about, not in detail anyway.
I class myself as a positive happy person, not just me, but everyone who knows me will say the same. I am the kindest, caring, supportive friend and family member, and whilst I am there for everyone else, and I know I could confide in close ones, I just never felt able too, instead struggling with demons by myself.
There were two times where Unique Young Mum's annual renewal came round, and I very nearly didn't renew the domain. It wasn't the easily affordable cost putting me off renewing, it was my state of mind. I love Unique Young Mum, I have loved it since I began it, and I'll love it forevermore, it's a huge part of my life, even though I sadly deserted it and lost a lot of working relationships.
Unique Young Mum and writing has been there for me throughout so many times of my life, some post have never been published or made public, but they exist, and being able to write them was a lifeline when I felt like there was no one or anywhere else to turn too, for that, I'll forever be grateful for Unique Young Mum.
I'm also thankful to the PR's, bloggers - a special shoutout to Emma, who teaches bloggers how to earn an income blogging and brands who reached out to me, to check if everything was okay. Emergency operations, hospital admissions and a sudden health condition to deal with took it's toll, I never did get back to anyone, but please believe me when I say you meant a lot to me during dark times, you never knew or still didn't know what was going on, but you took the time out to check up on me, and for that I'll eternally be grateful.
No matter how strong we think someone is, everyone has their weaknesses, their stresses and their demons - everyone. I didn't think Unique Young Mum was ever able to come back, but winning this award has given me the kick up the bum I need!
The virus may be around, and the world may be chaotic right now, but I know one thing for sure - Unique Young Mum is coming back, and just in time for Unique Young Mum's 8th birthday in August! I mean, just how has that happened!? Where does time go!? I am going to have a big party, just like the old days - lots of competitions for sure!
I'd just like to say thank you to Acquisition International - they had no idea what has been happening behind the scenes, but they not only awarded me a fantastic title, but they also unknowingly saved Unique Young Mum from disappearing off the web forever!
Until next time,
Jada x
