There's something that happens when we turn 25, and I know I'm not the only one who has experienced this. Just watching an episode of First Dates brings comfort, knowing that I'm not alone with my thoughts. So what happens for many of us when we turn 25? Apart from the countdown being turned on to your 30th birthday, we realise that we need to 'grow up' a bit.
Although there isn't a big difference between 24 and 25 in age - just a single year, I think the difference in maturity is a much bigger gap, you feel a lot older, a lot more wiser (if you didn't already) and you're now making goals to reach before you turn the big 3 0.
For a lot of us, we want to be settled down by the time we reach 30, and fortunately for me, I have found the man I want to spend the rest of my life with. Despite being in a happy relationship with Gareth, and us being engaged after he proposed, I always wanted to be married by the time I was 30, and with that big day just a few months away, it's not going to be possible - unless I win the lottery very quickly!
Sensibly speaking, I think it's unfortunately highly likely that we will be married when I'm 30, even if its the day before I turn 31. For a whole lot of reasons, it's just not doable, and it's not just money that makes me think this. It's my weight, because whilst I could win the lottery, and have all the money we need plus more overnight, my weight can't be an overnight fix, and to lose weight I need to do one more thing before I start - give up smoking.
I know it's just psychological to think that you're going to put on weight when you stop smoking, and I suppose if you think that, then it's more than likely going to happen because it's going to be on your mind.
