Your Home Au Naturel

Humans have a lot to learn from the natural world, it can teach us about medicine and science, but it can also help us to learn more about technology and mechanical engineering. Don’t worry about any of that stuff for now though, that's a whole other blog post in itself, instead, it’s time to focus on the gifts that nature can give you when it comes to design. By incorporating natural elements into your home, you can do a lot to make it look more unique and interesting, without having to make it hard to live in. To help you with this, this post will be going through some of the best ways to add a touch of nature to your home.

In a lot of homes, furniture and other features will be largely made from wood. Unfortunately, though, most items like this aren’t designed to allow the wood to show off its natural beauty, instead, they will be painted or covered with a veneer. With solid furniture, you might be able to strip these treatments and add your own clear one, but for furniture made from particle boards, like chipboard or MDF, you might need to look at some second-hand options to replace them. Exposing wood like this will always make a home feel more natural.

Next, it’s time to think about the furniture and other items which use other materials. For a lot of people, leather may not be a go-to option when you’re looking for something natural. However, this resource is one of the most natural of them all! A leather Chesterfield sofa will be hard wearing and beautiful and, it will look very comfortable surrounded by your other natural features. Of course, some will prefer to avoid leather, though for these people, natural fabrics like cotton and wool can also be very good.

It’s hard to talk about a natural home without considering the plants you have around. A plant is a great feature to add to any room, it will break up the order and linear nature found in most human-made items, contributing something a lot different. A lot of homes lack the addition of plants and, this is a shame. This sort of item can give a lot to your rooms, there are loads of different varieties of plants out there which all give something different to the space around them. Bonsai trees are very popular, but they require a lot of care and attention to keep them alive for a long time, so do think about your plant purchase before making the final decision.

Finally, this last option will be free for most people - natural light! It's one of the best ways to make a room feel bigger and more open as materials usually show their very best qualities when they’re under the light. This is especially true for most natural ones, keeping your curtains and blinds open will let torrents of light into your home and, this is something which can be done for absolutely no money at all.

Hopefully, this post will inspire you to start working towards a home with more natural touches. Not a lot of people go for this sort of approach with their home, instead, they will simply buy flat-pack furniture and be happy with the options available. However, to have a home unique to you, it’s important to put the effort in if you want the home you dream of.
