Lego 9509 Review: Star Wars Advent Calendar

Spud loves advent calendar's and asked me not too long ago if he could have a Lego one, unfortunately money has been a little bit tight. When I received a email from Lego, 3 days before the advent calendar period was due to start offering Spud a advent calendar I literally squealed with happiness! We received this advent calendar yesterday (Tuesday 4th December) due to the courier companies delay in getting the parcel to us in time for Saturday 1st December (the first day of advent calendar period).

The design was the first thing we noticed, although Spud has not watched any Star Wars films he has got the Lego Star Wars PS2 game so is familiar with some of the characters, unlike me (and I've watched the films!!)

Inside the box you will find all the Lego parts you need to build all the models above. You have 24 boxes which will take you up to the 24th of December, each numbered door leads you to a new surprise everyday (only one of each model is supplied). The box includes 2 'exclusive' holiday themed figures.

What I personally liked the most on first thoughts was the big bold font of the numbers, this means Spud feels independent enough to find the numbers and open the selected number himself.

Another thing I love about this calendar is how easy it is to open each advent number's door, Spud finds other advent calendar's hard to open correctly and end's up tearing them or gets frustrated trying to open them!

All the instructions are printed on the inside of the doors but as each model has a maximum of 15 pieces with most of the models having spare parts (which is great if its for children as things do get lost and misplaced) its really not hard to piece the model together.

Each door opens up to present a clear small bag with the Lego pieces inside.

The lid of the box creates a scene to place the Lego pieces on, as we all know children's imaginations can run wild, what a great prop to help them play with the Star Wars pieces.

Lego Star Wars Advent Calendar 9509 is available to buy with a suggested RRP of £25 from the official Lego Shop, Toys R Us, Amazon, Argos, Tesco and many more places.

For more information on the Lego advent calendar range check out the official Lego website here, or find them on Twitter here.

Until next time,
